About

We are Alex and Charlotte, quilt artist and quilt enthusiast respectively, and we are on a mission - to stop anyone else being referred to as "Maker Unknown". The International Quilt Museum in Nebraska has one of the world's largest collections of quilts, and more than half do not have a maker's name attached. All those makers lost to history! We want to prevent this from happening to you.

The idea of pre-designed quilt labels came to Alex when she was rushing to finish a quilt before a show deadline. At the time she was struggling to find a piece of fabric suitable to use and hadn't even thought about how to attach it. What she needed was something the right shape and size, which would look attractive, be easy to attach and easy to personalize. A few days later the prototypes were ready to go.

Alex and Charlotte live in Oakland CA where Charlotte was born. Alex grew up in the UK and has also lived in Japan. She moved to San Francisco in 2014 and has been in the area ever since. Alex's art and details of her workshops and lectures can be seen at lixiemakesit.com
